Sheldon’s Wine Cellars are one of the UK’s oldest Independent Merchants trading from the same premises in Shipston-on-Stour since 1842. The buying team is headed up by Marcia Waters MW, Chairman of the Exam Board for the Masters of Wine. With an extensive list of interesting and unusual wines and spirits, many not in major UK distribution, the Oxford Wine Company has won UK Retailer of the Year with both Harpers and Off Licence News but significantly has been Harpers Wine Wholesaler of the Year for the last 4 consecutive years. The Oxford Wine Company also owns two Oxford Wine Cafes, both situated in the city. It employs over 40 staff.

The Sampler is a leading independent wine merchant with two shops in central London and a restaurant wholesale arm. Quaff was founded in 2005 by Toby Peirce, who as a professional cricketer in his early adulthood, spent winters playing in Stellenbosch, South Africa. Here he caught the wine bug while drinking an intemperate amount in the company of various winemakers' cricketing sons. We don’t have a regional speciality, or try to be overtly organic or biodynamic. Our aim is that regardless of style, region, colour or price, we are offering you the best bottle available. Each wine should be an archetype of that style; typical of the region, the vintage and showing the talents of the producer. The majority of our work, however, is done by listening carefully to the customer, and making a recommendation that suits them. This is as vital as selecting the wines in the first place.
Hennings Wine Merchants, set in the heart of the West Sussex countryside, has long held a reputation for being one of the leading independents in the south-east of England. Prohibition Wines is a family run business in Muswell Hill owned and run by Paul and Louise. Frustrated by not having anywhere decent to buy a bottle of wine locally, we, decided to open a shop ourselves. We opened on Valentine’s Day 2013 and our first bottle sold was a Californian Viognier. We’ve sold a few more bottles since. We now stock around 600 wines from 18 countries (with a specialty in Spain and North America) along with an expanding range of funky spirits and a carefully crafted range of beers from London and further afield.
